Javid L. Jenkins is a man defined by resilience, faith, and a relentless drive to turn adversity into triumph. As the author of ILLEGITIMATE: Redefining The Outcome, he shares his extraordinary journey of overcoming abuse and rejection to rise as one of Chicago's most influential business leaders in the fitness industry.

At just 17 years old, he answered the call to ministry and later was ordained as an elder in the African American Episcopal Church in Chicago at age 25. With vision and purpose, he founded a church and transformed it into a thriving ministry that impacted countless lives. His creativity knows no bounds, evidenced by his success as a playwright, writing and touring two celebrated stage productions—The Lue Chefer Show, which ran for a year, and Reality Church.

A dynamic force in the sales industry, Javid has spent over 25 years as a top performer, setting the standard for excellence. In 2012, he founded Getting Better Fitness, which he grew into one of the largest Black-owned gyms in Chicago, helping thousands transform their lives through health and wellness. Today, he continues to lead and inspire as the Benefits Coordinator for National Teachers Associates, managing their Chicago team with unmatched dedication and expertise.

Beyond his professional achievements, Javid .finds joy in the simple and profound moments of life. He is a devoted husband to Wendy and a proud father to their six children. Whether he’s perfecting a meal in the kitchen, tending to his yard, or crafting imaginative costumes for his daughter, he approaches life with passion and purpose.
